The novice dog training is a starter course for older puppies, adult or rescue dogs who want to learn basic obedience. These classes are a great way for your dog to socialise with other dogs whilst learning essential manners. Go Fetch It training classes not only help you improve your relationship with your dog, but also are a great place to meet new dog walking friends! All training classes take place weekly in Portishead, North Weston Village Hall.

• Go Fetch It dog training courses last six weeks and each session is 50 minutes long.
• Courses are held throughout the year and are suitable for all breeds and sizes!
• Classes are small so that each dog gets maximum benefit.
• Class places are limited to 8 so book early to avoid disappointment.

Example programme of what you can expect to learn:

• Basic positions- Sit, Down, Stand
• A short Stay
• Door/gateway Manners
• Walking calmly on a loose lead
• Drop command (great for getting toys back)
• The Recall- Teaching your dog to respond to your calls
• The Leave command- usefull out walking and in the home
• Wait
• To be handled by strangers- grooming and vet checks.
• Advice on behavioural issues, nutrition, training, and much more!

All training classes are backed up with handouts and email correspondence between sessions.

Graduate Dog Training Programme

This course is designed as a follow on from the Novice course, advancing you and your dogs learning to the next level! The Graduate Class has a roll-on roll-off enrolement. Each block last six weeks and you can start at any time where there is a place, and book as many training blocks as you wish.

• Advancing lead work and walking to heel off lead.
• Long Stay, and Stay with owner out of sight
• Recall away from distractions (Food, other dogs and people)
• Controlled greetings with other dogs and people
• Send to bed
• The Down Flat command- useful for veterinary examinations
• Controlled entrances and exits of vehicles
• Food manners
• Controlled Play and the Stop Command
• Rejoin handler after Stay off lead
• Fun Tricks
• Advice on behavioural problems, training, nutrition and much more!
